You can show your support for our restoration project by making a donation specifically toward the cost of over-laying the existing "raked" stalls floor with a level platform.
This modification is crucial to the viability of the building's multi-purpose future. English Heritage will allow this provided the existing rake is not taken up as it is listed and would be needed if the building was ever returned solely to theatre use.
A levelled floor will allow the area to accommodate removeable theatre seating so that use can flex from traditional proscenium arch theatre to dances, fairs, exhibitions, boxing, wrestling, banquets,weddings and so forth.
All sponsors of the new floor will have their names permanently displayed after restoration is complete. If you click on Membership Form you will see you can use the form to order floorboards. They cost £10 per board (individual) and £20 (family). Please ensure you write EXACTLY AND CLEARLY the name for your certificate as this is what will eventually be on the permanent roll of sponsors in the theatre.
